Having a standard to measure or examine things is important, from weights and measures to law.  A valid standard settles matters.  Because a standard is needful, God has given the standard by which one's life will be judged-the Bible.  Jesus said in Jn. 12:48, "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has one that judges him-the words that I have spoken will judge him in the last day."  This means that yours, mine, everyone's lives will be judged by the very same standard.

People will not be judged by popular opinion.  People will not be judged by personal opinion.  People will not be judged by something they were told.  All people will be judged by God's absolute standard.  That being true, wise people will prepare themselves for judgment by a deep study of God's word.  As one makes that study, they will adjust their life to conform to what God says.

The best way one can prepare for judgment is to study God's word deeply, and obey the teachings of Christ.
