There are some people who wonder why the resurrection of the Christ is still important today.  They suggest that an event that took place two thousand years ago should not matter today.  But the resurrection of the Christ still matters today.

First, by His death and resurrection, the Christ conquered death for all time.  We read in Heb. 2:14, "...that through death He might destroy them who had the power of death, that is, the Devil."

Second, if the Christ did not rise, Christianity is a false religion.  We read in 1 Cor. 15:14, "And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is vain and our faith is also vain."

Third, it is the Christ's resurrection that makes the resurrection possible for Christians.  We read in 1 Cor. 15:23, "but each in his own order.  Christ the first fruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming."
